Reply 1.   April 18, 2008    member 239 The cover is franked 10 mil which was the concession rate to the UK from Egypt 1931. The Patris II was owned by the Neptos lines and was used in the Mediterranean during the 30s. The only reference to it, by gooogling, says it was used in 1933 for an architectural meeting. The postmark is Galata which is an old part of Istanbul and has a port. One can probably assume it was posted on the Patris II and the purser then posted at Galata, or posted by the writer after the ship docked, presumably having coming from Egypt.
