The Egypt Study Circle was founded in 1935 - one of the first of the specialist single-country philatelic research groups - by the late Dr William Byam and 23 other enthusiastic students of stamps and postal history of Egypt and the Sudan.
Today there are some 200 members world-wide, in 22 countries. We have Agents in Egypt, the Antipodes and North America.
The Circle holds five London meetings a year, on Saturday afternoons on alternate months. These are usually devoted to a single topic, such as Hotel Postmarks, Airmails of Egypt, or the De La Rue Issues. Undoubtedly the best way to increase one's knowledge and interest in Egyptian philately is to attend these meetings.
We have an active Facebook page, a website at egyptstudycircle.org.uk, and we publish a magazine, The Quarterly Circular. The QC contains articles and notes, and members are encouraged to submit items. It has won medals at international level.
Auctions of Egyptian stamps, postal history and ephemera are held twice a year. The Auctions are not open to non-members.
