Fifteen members of the Egypt Study Circle were successful in winning 23 awards in the competitive classes at the successful international Egy-Phila exhibition held in Cairo from September 17–19. They included 2 Large Gold, 8 Gold, 9 Large Vermeil, 3 Vermeil, 1 Large Silver, plus a Special Prize.
At the Palmares dinner it was announced that Atef Sarian’s masterful study of the stamps that launched Egypt’s national postal service was awarded the outstanding honour of a Grand Prix. And Mike Murphy (ESC 240) was awarded the inaugural Ibrahim Chaftar Award in recognition of his exceptional and dedicated service to Egyptian philately as ESC Secretary and Editor.
